SIM Registration Errors: OTP, ID, Selfie and Portal Fixes

A carrier-aware troubleshooting guide for failed OTPs, rejected documents, review states, missing confirmations and registered SIMs with no service.

Start here

Do not keep resubmitting blindly. Save the exact message, confirm that you are on the carrier’s official platform, then isolate the stage that failed: number/OTP, personal details, ID, selfie, review, confirmation or activation. Use the carrier-specific next step below and contact official support when a truthful, readable submission is repeatedly rejected.

Never pay for a bypass. No legitimate helper can override identity verification, manufacture an OTP or guarantee approval. Do not send an ID or selfie to a person claiming they can fix the portal.

Five checks before retrying

  1. Save the exact error

Screenshot the message without publishing your number, ID or reference. Note the stage and carrier product.

  2. Verify the route

Start again from the carrier’s official website or verified app, not the search result or forwarded link.

  3. Keep the same truthful record

Do not vary names, dates or addresses to force approval. Correct only genuine typing or OCR mistakes.

  4. Check for an existing result

A missing SMS does not prove failure. Use the carrier’s official status method before creating a duplicate.

  5. Separate registration from service

A successful identity result can coexist with device, activation, coverage, load or ordinary expiry problems.

OTP not received or rejected

OTP not received or rejected
SituationSupported next step
Globe mobile OTP missingGlobe says to check that the SIM has signal and use its Resend OTP control. Its current registration guide says the six-digit OTP expires in five minutes.
Smart mobile OTP missingThe current Smart sources reviewed do not publish one universal technical fix or timing. Recheck the official portal and number, then call *888 from Smart or (02) 8888-1111 if unresolved.
DITO code missingDITO’s April 2026 guide says to check signal/internet, use the new-code option when available and restart the device if needed.
GOMO code missingConfirm that the intended GOMO SIM/eSIM is enabled and that GOMO PH is signed into the correct number; use official in-app support if verification still fails.
Home WiFi or modem OTP missingCheck the device’s SMS inbox or carrier app. Do not expect a modem SIM’s message to appear on the phone automatically.
Code rejectedRequest a fresh code through the live control and enter only the newest code. Follow the timer shown by that carrier; there is no universal OTP lifespan.

Portal will not load or submit

  • Confirm the exact official domain and avoid a search-ad or lookalike URL.
  • Check whether another ordinary website loads on the same connection.
  • Return from the carrier’s main registration page rather than repeatedly refreshing a deep form URL.
  • Preserve completed information only if the carrier platform explicitly saves it; do not assume an unfinished form was submitted.
  • If the carrier reports maintenance or the official page remains unavailable, use its assisted store/chat route.

Globe’s FAQ says to double-check the URL and connection, then use official Messenger support if the portal remains inaccessible. Do not interpret an error page as a new registration deadline or a reason to use another website.

ID upload or OCR error

ID upload or OCR error
ProblemCorrection
ID type absent from menuUse another valid document shown by the carrier or ask its assisted channel. Do not select the wrong type.
Blurred, cropped or reflective imageRetake it in even light, keep all edges visible and make every required detail readable.
Expired or damaged documentUse a current supported ID.
OCR filled wrong dataCorrect the form to match the ID before attesting to accuracy.
Paper or Digital National ID rejectedUse the carrier’s supported capture method or assisted route. Do not create an unauthorized PVC copy.
Valid ID repeatedly rejectedSave the error and request manual carrier help. Do not alter the document.

Compare the carrier lists in valid IDs for SIM registration.

Selfie or face-check failure

  • Face the camera and keep the full face visible.
  • Use even front lighting and a plain background.
  • Clean the lens and remove filters, heavy blur and image editing.
  • Follow only the live movement or liveness prompts shown by the official carrier app.
  • Make sure the ID photo is a current enough likeness for truthful verification.
  • Stop and contact the carrier if accessibility, disability, religious covering or a medical condition prevents completion; do not fabricate a selfie.

The National Privacy Commission says selfie verification must follow transparency, legitimate purpose, proportionality and other data-protection safeguards. Upload it only to the carrier.

Details do not match

Check name order, suffix, birth date, sex and address against the selected ID. A real legal change of name or address may need a supporting record through the carrier’s assisted process. Do not submit a former, approximate or invented identity just because the automatic form accepts it.

Globe-specific caution: Globe’s current FAQ answer under one mismatch question appears internally inconsistent and describes modem steps. Do not derive a technical bypass from it; use Globe support or a store.

Review, Returned and already-registered errors

  • Smart Locked for Review: wait for Smart’s SMS update.
  • Smart Returned: read the SMS reason and submit the corrected information or extra document requested. A new SIM remains deactivated until approved.
  • Already registered: if you recognize the record, use the carrier status. If not, contact the carrier immediately and do not attempt to overwrite it through a third party.
  • No confirmation: use the official status route before another submission.
  • Unfinished app prompt after submission: save both screens and ask the carrier to reconcile the record.

Registered successfully but no service

Registered successfully but no service
CheckWhy it matters
Registration resultConfirm the carrier accepted the identity record, not merely that the form was opened.
New-line activationThe carrier may still be completing account/SIM activation.
Ordinary prepaid validityRegistration does not override carrier load and expiry rules.
Device compatibilityDITO, for example, warns that data may work on some non-compatible phones while calls/texts do not.
APN, VoLTE and network settingsA service configuration issue is different from SIM registration.
Loss/theft bar or replacementAn old SIM may be deliberately deactivated after a report or number transfer.

For a structured check of activation, account validity, device settings and network service, continue with the registered-but-no-service guide.

When to contact the carrier

  • Globe/TM: official Globe Messenger support or a Globe Store; Globe users can also follow the current support numbers on globe.com.ph.
  • Smart/TNT: *888 from Smart/TNT or (02) 8888-1111, official Smart Cares, or a Smart Store.
  • DITO: DITO App/live chat, 185 from DITO, or the official accounts and emails on DITO’s registration page.
  • GOMO: official in-app support in GOMO PH.

Give support the number only through its verified channel, the error wording, time of the attempt and reference. Never give an OTP.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my SIM registration failing?

Identify whether the failure is at the OTP, form, ID, selfie, review, confirmation or activation stage, then use the relevant carrier-supported fix.

Why was my ID rejected?

The type may be unsupported, expired, unreadable, cropped or mismatched with the form. Use the carrier’s live list and a clear truthful image.

What does Locked for Review mean?

Smart is reviewing the submission. Wait for its SMS update rather than creating a duplicate.

What does Returned mean?

Smart needs a correction or more documentation and sends the reason by SMS.

What if the number says already registered?

Contact the carrier immediately if you do not recognize the registration. Do not try to buy a bypass.

Should I submit again if no confirmation arrived?

Use the carrier’s status method first and retain the original reference.

Why is there no service after approval?

Check activation, ordinary validity, device compatibility, network settings and account bars separately from registration.
