SIM Registration Requirements in the Philippines (2026)
Before you open a registration portal, gather these items. Missing any one of them is the most common reason registration fails.
Philippine SIM registration requires a working SIM in a phone, one valid unexpired government ID, and a one-time PIN (OTP) sent to that number. You must use your carrier’s official portal or app. Registration is free and mandatory under RA 11934 for new and unregistered lines.

ID requirements in detail
Carriers follow the ID categories set under RA 11934 and its implementing rules. Primary IDs include Philippine passport, driver’s license, UMID, PhilID/ePhilID, PRC ID, Postal ID, voter’s ID, senior citizen ID, and PWD ID.
Foreign nationals typically use a passport. Minors need a guardian’s ID plus proof of relationship. Expired IDs are usually rejected online — get a renewed ID or register in-store with staff assistance.
Photocopies alone are not enough for online upload flows; you photograph the original. Store staff may accept photocopies plus original for in-person registration.
Requirements by situation
Filipino adults
Any one primary ID from the accepted list. Name on the form must match the ID character for character.
Foreigners and tourists

Minors (under 18)

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a school ID to register a SIM?
School IDs are usually not accepted as the sole primary ID for adults. Students under 18 register through a parent or guardian with the guardian’s government ID.
Do postpaid SIMs have different requirements?
Postpaid lines follow the same ID rules. If you applied in-store, the carrier may have registered the SIM during activation — check status before re-registering.
Is a digital PhilID accepted?
Yes. PhilID and ePhilID are widely accepted when the digital copy is clear and unexpired. Some app flows scan the QR code directly.
What if my ID address is different from where I live?
Use the address shown on your ID for the registration form unless the portal explicitly asks for current address as a separate field.
Can I register without a valid ID?
